You can read the time from it EL (Electro Luminescent) band. It has an unusual effect I because of its translucent casing. You can see the screen animation and scrolling pattern changing by the hour, at night between 9pm and 3am.

Genius Slimstar 820

The Genius SlimStar 820 is one of a kind keyboard that includes a solar panel to draw on energy from light sources and then to recharge the unit's built-in battery. The panel located on the top right is adjustable to absorb as much light as possible. Other than this unique feature, the SlimStar 820 seems like an ordinary keyboard with tons of multimedia hot-keys. Importantly, the keyboard is hybrid powered. In the absence of any light, the USB cable charger can take over. The solar-panel doesn't recharge the 1600dpi laser mouse which uses 4 AA batteries that are pretty harmful to the environment. The good news is the batteries last up to 15 months.Wireless keyboards have become so commonplace it is easy to forget that they have a big weakness, how to power the keyboard. Most keyboards use batteries and even though they might last several months on a fresh set, it is still annoying, not to mention a problem for the environment. Ordinary batteries can also be fitted with SlimStar to ensure the keyboard keeps working if there is not enough light and the fixed battery runs out.


There are plenty of shortcut keys on the keyboard, including the all-The important volume and media player controls. There shortcut buttons for Word, Excel, Power point,Messenger, Internet Explorer and email. Copy, Paste, Save and Print shortcuts are very useful. As much as a good selection of shortcut keys is important, other decisions have not benefited the keyboard. The Function keys are much smaller then ordinary keys, which we did not like. Sadly the keyboard was not as comfortable to type at as we would like.The mouse is not rechargeable and so has no environmental benefit. It has a laser sensor and a sideways scrolling wheel so is likely to be an upgrade from the basic batteries supplied with computer. The only other extra is a button for locking the computer. A useful tool but not much faster than just pressing the Windows key and L. The USB adapter clips into the mouseSlimStar is a new innovative 2.4GHz wireless laser desktop combo. 'Pinnacle Video Transfer' is an innovative device -- that records analog video from a TV, VCD/DVD player, VHS player, camcorder, or set-top box, and transfers it directly onto a Video iPod, iPod Touch, iPod Nano, PSP, USB flash drive, USB hard drive, or any other portable video player -- without using a PC; claims Pinnacle Systems, the consumer division of Avid Technology.

The device is targeted at all those who want to enjoy TV shows and personal videos on their Video iPods, PSPs, etc, or want to store these on a USB drive for viewing later. With PC-less recording, Pinnacle says the device is also likely to appeal to people who want a simple way to offload footage from their cameras and portable USB devices when away from home.

Users with little or no technical expertise can begin audio-video recording at the touch of a button, and transfer files created onto any USB 2.0 storage device without using a PC. Three different recording levels can be selected for each connected device, depending on individual preferences (whether quality or size of video files). For instance, when 'Best' recording is selected, videos are claimed to be captured at up to 720 x 480/576 (NTSC/PAL) resolution. Videos are captured in the H.264 format or the high-compression multimedia technology supported by iPods and PSPs. Which does away with the need for time-consuming conversion. Pinnacle's H.264 encoding, also known as Advanced Video Codec (AVC) specification or MPEG 4- Part 10, promises to deliver high-quality videos with two to three times the compression efficiency of solutions such as MPEG-2 standard that are used in DVD video. "Pinnacle Video Transfer" supports multiple inputs, including S-Video, Composite video, and stereo audio analog. It helps store memories by making digital copies of personal videos shot on VHS, Hi8, or VHS-C tape, without having to deal with complicated PC-based software.

V-Gear TalkCam CX1

There is a new webcam in town known as the V-Gear TalkCam CX1 that has just been released in the Korean market.
